The Gefen HDMI to composite scaler converts a high definition output to standard definition NTSC/PAL format.
Installation steps:
1. Plug the 5V power supply into the Gefen scaler and an electrical outlet.
2. Connect a HDMI cable from the output of your MediaZone Pro Player to the HDMI input on the Gefen scaler.
3. Connect a composite or S-Video cable from the composite video output (Yellow) or S-Video output on the Gefen scaler to your broadcasting equipment.
4. Connect the right and left analog audio outputs or the S/PDIF (Coax) output to your broadcasting equipment.
Additional Settings:
- Resolution:
For optimum results, you should set the desktop resolution of the MediaZone Pro Player to 1280x1024. The Canvas (overall resolution) for your playlist should also be set to 1280x1024 within the MediaZone Pro Editor software.
- NTSC vs. PAL:
Most countries in North and South America, including the US and Canada, utilize the National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) format, while Europe, Australia and parts of Asia use a competing format called Phase Alternating Line (PAL).
- Overscan vs. Underscan:
The Underscan/Overscan switch helps optimize image size on old analog TV screens without over-cropping or visible black borders.
