Breeze Player with HDMI In

Breeze Player with HDMI In

Several models of the Breeze Player include an HDMI In port that accepts an external video signal to be included as part of the digital signage.  This means cable programming, live video input and a variety of other video signals can be embedded directly in playlist content!

The external video signal is delivered through an HDMI cable connected to the HDMI In port on the player.  The Video Input widget brings the external video input signal into the playlist content.  These two components are required for video input to function:
  1. HDMI cable delivering the external video signal to the player
  2. Video Input widget in the playlist content assigned to the player

The resolution of the external video signal is extremely important and is specified in the Video Input widget window.  If the resolution is incorrect, the video signal will be distorted or absent on the player.

The Video Input widget allows for the external video signal to be the focus of the playlist or displayed in sequence with other media content.  The design also makes it easy to schedule a playlist with an external video signal to automatically display during a specific time, to broadcast live sports games or community events.

Video input operates slightly different for Windows and Android Breeze Player models. The Windows Breeze Player, BRZ-RMW, uses the BlackMagic Input selection in the Input Type drop-down list and the BlackMagic Input does not support HDCP-encrypted video sources.

The Android players, BRZ-301 and BRZ-321, use the HDMI Input Type and HDCP-encrypted video sources are supported.  However, Android players do not support a video input resolution of 1080i.  The resolution of the video input source for Android players must be 1080p or 720p.  And lastly, Android players include the external video signal over the top of all other playlist content.  The video signal is not layered below other playlist content, even if the content covers the HDMI widget in the playlist design.

Add Video Input to a Playlist:
  1. Select the Widgets tab in the Content panel.  Scroll down in the Widgets tab to locate the Video Input widget button.

  2. Click on the Video Input widget button, hold and drag a new widget into the zone where the external video signal will be displayed.

  3. Select the Input Type.  Windows players use BlackMagic Input and Android players use HDMI.

  4. Select the Resolution for the external video signal.  Signals with a resolution other than 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720  must be entered manually.  Select Custom in the Resolution drop-down to generate the Width and Height fields.

    For players using
BlackMagic Input, the Framerate should be set to 59.94 and the Pixel Format to bgr0.

  5. Click OK.
The external video signal is only accessible by the player and is not visible in the Editor even when functioning correctly.  The external video signal fills in the Video Input widget when the content is displayed on the player with the external video signal connection.
