Important notes:
- You must be on Breeze V 3.00.39 or higher to use the RSS Creator tool to create a manual CAP Feed.
- This article assumes that you have already created your own RSS Feed with the Creator tool.
Step 1) Locate your RSS feed from the 3rd party mass notification system or the Breeze RSS Creator as seen below. You may need to contact your Campus Safety, Director of Emergency Management, etc. for third party notification system information.
Copy the RSS URL from each RSS you want to trigger alerts from:
Add each RSS URL to the CAP Feeds section:
(You can add as many RSS feeds as needed. Press the plus sign in the upper right hand corner in order to add a RSS feed each time you'd like to add another.
Once your feeds have been added, it's time to set CAP Filters, or conditional configuration, to allow your CAP feed to perform correctly.
Navigate to CAP Filters in the Configuration pane in your Breeze Server, then click the plus sign in the top right corner to add a filter:
Here, you'll see a variety of custom options, including display size, dwell, force dwell, and the filter conditions available.
Full Screen, Crawl and Both are all display options. Force Dwell is effective if you'd like the emergency alert to stay on-screen until you are ready to issue an "all-clear" as seen below.
Once you set the filters to your liking, click "SAVE" in the bottom left corner of the window. Now, you will be prepared to send out an emergency alert, whether through your third party EMS software, or manually, using the RSS Creator tool.
If you need to update an RSS feed that will be displayed on your signage, simply navigate to the RSS Creator tab, choose the desired feed, make any changes, then click "Update RSS Feed" to publish.
