Editor contains everything you need to create the content for your digital sign. Here, you can create and build your playlists to work perfectly on your player. Creating a new playlist is simple. First, we will click the “new” button on the top-right corner of our screen. Now, let’s decide our orientation of our screen, then decide how many “zones” or separate content areas, we want to utilize. We can always add more later, but these are great starting points. After selecting a zone layout, we can now see our template ready to use.
To add files such as images, videos, audio, and documents to our playlist, we will simply upload them under the files tab, and drag and drop into the zone. To add information, including different colors, text, and more, we will choose “widgets” in our left-hand toolbar. A widget is a mini-application within Breeze. There’s a variety of widgets available, but today we are going to use the text and weather crawl widgets. To add a widget, simply click and drag the widget to the desired zone. For our weather widget, we will now enter the zip code of the location we’d like to show the weather for. We can also change the font, color, and even the speed of the scrolling. Once everything is to our liking, we will click ok, and see our changes populate on the zone. Next, we will add our text. Here, you can also change the font, size, color, and background color of the text., and see those changes populate as well.
Once we have our widgets and zones as needed, we can now evaluate the length of time each zone shows specific content. On the bottom toolbar, click and drag each media item within a zone to adjust the length of that media. Now, we will click preview to view our playlist. Here, we can see that our image times out after a few seconds, and then our text is showing. To delete a media item from a zone, simply click to highlight it, and click delete.
Our playlist is now complete! Now it’s time to give our playlist a name, save it, and publish it! To publish directly from the editor, click the three bar menu, then choose the correct player from the dropdown, and click “publish”.
As previously discussed, we have two separate categories for content within our editor: files, and widgets. Files are considered anything that you would upload to the software, such as documents, images, videos, audio, PDFs, and more. These files can be organized into groups, or folders, to prevent clutter of your file list and to keep content that is in a playlist together in one place.
Widgets are mini-applications that pull information from other sources, like traffic, the weather, or even a webpage. In Breeze, our widgets are a number of other dynamic content tools as well, like timers, clocks, and gradients, that offer a lot of customization beyond just using files. Our more advanced widgets are even able to display tables, events, and RSS feeds.
Zones create containers for our content, so that they have a specific location to be on our canvas. This allows us to layer content on top of each other, like a clock over a video. We can also create specific intervals in which content is shown by adding multiple pieces of content to the same zone, shown at different times. Additionally, we can schedule individual media for specific times, by highlighting the media, choosing to enable scheduling, and selecting our desired date and time. When it is scheduled, it will turn green. When it has already been shown for it’s scheduled time, it will then show red, and we have the option to remove expired media.
We are also able to add entry and exit transitions to give some creative interest to our playlists. There are a lot of options to choose from, and we are also able to adjust the speed or duration of the transition.
