Breeze video walls can be created with one large screen or by arranging several screens to create one visual display. A multi-head Breeze player takes one set of video output, or one playlist, and divides the content to display and synchronize across all the screens.
When a video wall is made up of one LED screen, the user creates playlist content sized for the custom resolution of the LED screen and the content is displayed by a standard player, or a single-head player. One HDMI cable connects the player to the LED screen.
When a video wall is made up of multiple screens, the user creates playlist content sized for the total resolution of the combined screens and the content is displayed by a multi-head player. Multiple HDMI cables connect a multi-head player to the video wall screens.
Several models of single-head Breeze players provide dual video output. These players cannot be used to create a video wall since a single-head player can only provide cloned video output.
Calculate Total Resolution
The total resolution, or combined width and height of all screens in the video wall, is required to build content that displays correctly across the video wall screens.
Playlists built for a video wall require the playlist resolution in the Editor to exactly match the total resolution of all combined screens. Total resolution, or total screen resolution, is the sum of the dimensions (width and height) of all screens in each direction.
A 3 x 2 layout of screens with 1920 x 1080 resolution results in a total resolution of 5760 x 2160.
total width = 5760 = 1920 + 1920 +1920
total height = 2160 = 1080 + 1080
The width of each screen in the horizontal direction is added together for a total width of 5760. The height of the screens is added together for a total height of 2160.
Custom Playlist Resolution
The total resolution must be provided to the Editor so the design area, called the Canvas, will exactly match the dimensions of the combined screens.
The Canvas area in the Editor is specified by the user when a new playlist is created. A custom resolution is selected by entering the width and height in the Screen Units fields of the New Playlist window.
Typically, media content on a video wall is arranged in one of two approaches:
- combining all screens to display one image or video at a time
- displaying different media content on each screen
Both approaches can even be utilized in one playlist!
