A Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentation can be exported as PNG Portable Network Graphics (*.png) files and included in a digital signage playlist. The advantage of maintaining a PowerPoint presentation instead of a digital signage playlist is new users can utilize a familiar software application to design content while they are learning the Breeze software. Also, content contributors and less-technical users can update their digital signage content by uploading new images with minimal training.
PowerPoint presentations also can be exported as a video.
To Export PowerPoint Slides as Image Files:
- Select File in the tool ribbon and Save As in the File menu.
In the Save As window, locate the format type field, to the left of the Save button. Click on the drop-down arrow to reveal a list of file formats to save, or export, PowerPoint presentations. Select the PNG Portable Network Graphics (*.png) format.
- Click Save. A message window opens inquiring whether the user wants to save all slides in the presentation as image files or just the selected slide as a single image file. To start, choose All Slides.
- Another message window opens to inform the user the export was successful and of the location of the folder containing the image files.
- The folder containing the images files is given the filename and each image file in the folder is named Slide[#], corresponding to the presentation sequence.
Upload the new images files and add them to the Breeze playlist.
To maintain the sequence of slides from the PowerPoint presentation, simply ensure the images are added to the playlist in order, from lowest to highest or Slide1, Slide2, Slide3, etc.
Exported Files & Overwriting
Breeze users can overwrite files in a playlist for maximize efficiency. Overwriting replaces a media file in all playlists containing that file. The new file retains the position in media sequence of the previous file and any media attributes applied to the previous media file in the playlist.
To overwrite an image file, upload a new image file with the exact same name as the existing image file in the server. The new image replaces, or OVERWRITES, the previous image in any playlists the image is saved in. Select the Group containing the image file and upload the new image: a message box verifies the user wants to overwrite the image file(s).
Select YES. After the file is finished uploading, go to the Players tool and select UPDATE PLAYER.
